Note that only administrators have access to the Policies panel. Creating a Policy from scratch may involve some level of technical expertise, depending on the complexity of the policy required. Contact DubBot support using the in-app chat or by emailing email@example.com if you would like help configuring a policy or do not have the appropriate user level.
To manage Policies, select Settings, and from the left-hand navigation under Check Settings, select Policies.
To create a new check, select the Create new policy button.
In the Name field, enter the title for the check. The Name displays in the Quick Wins panel and on the detailed page view when the Policy matches a page.
The Policy Notes field allows users to include additional details about the Policy. Policy Notes are particularly useful for guiding users on the purpose of the flag. This content will display as expanded content when the Name is clicked on the detailed page view.
The following field is only applicable to Policies that will have multiple rules.
Under the Matching Behavior option, the "Match any rule. Leave disabled to require all rules." checkbox allows users to select whether the Policy is an OR or an AND selector. Checking the box will require that pages only match one rule within the built set of rules to be flagged. Leaving the box disabled will mean that pages have to match all rules to be flagged.
To make a Policy based on a set of rules, repeat the following steps as many times as the ruleset requires.
Select the Add Rule button to add criteria for the Policy.
In the Rule field, enter the search query.
In the Search By field, choose the type of search. Search type options are Text, Link Text, Link URL, CSS Selector, XPath, and Regular Expression.
The "Flag pages that do not match this rule" checkbox allows users to build flag pages for the exclusion of a rule. Check this box to flag pages that do not match the search criteria. Note that the majority of Policies are to flag for the existence of a search query, so the majority leave this box disabled.
The "Ignore Case" checkbox allows users to make a case insensitive search. Checking this box means that a search for "John Doe" would return "john doe" along with any variation of capitalized/lowercase letters. Leave this box disabled if you want to make a case sensitive query.
The "Exclude code and check only text" checkbox is only present for the Text and Regular Expression queries. Enabling this checkbox will mean that only the text of pages gets searched to match the rule, excluding all content within code tags.
If the Policy requires more than one rule, select the Add Rule button to enter more criteria. Repeat the process as many times as needed.
Once all of the Rules are configured, select Create to save the new Policy.
